Startup Week™ brings entrepreneurs, local leaders, and friends together over five days to build momentum and opportunity around Edmonton’s unique entrepreneurial identity.

For 2023, multiple events/programs were held at the Edmonton Unlimited business space while the staple Launch Party was held at the in Hall C at the Edmonton Convention Centre.

WHAT KIWI PRODUCTIONS DELIVERED

Content creation & Media promotions through Alberta impact, Event Design and audio visual production

Content Creation:

To highlight the selected startup companies who would be featured throughout the Startup Week™, we created professional, in studio, interview style videos for each company with branding, intros and stingers. For each video produced we created 4 promotional clips.

Media Promotions:

Utilizing our prominent web series, Alberta Impact and it’s channels, we hosted and promoted the episodes. The social clips were also used on the main screens at the Launch Party.

Audio Visual Production:

Startup Week™: For this portion, we provided technical support along with production equipments such lives streaming units, HD broadcast and robot cameras, microphones and sounds systems.

Launch Party: Taking a creative approach, we built a 3:1 ratio centre stage screen which was 15ft wide by 5ft tall, framed by two side front projection 21ft wide by 11ft tall screens. We used our Epson 16,000 lumen laser projectors for all three screens. The entire back stage was draped with 80ft of grey velour drapes which were accented with lights.

Lighting: Multiple lighting options were used for this event from LED bar mutli-colour up-lights, gobo lights with designs, front wash to spot lights.

Superior Sound Distribution: JBL Line Array audio system was flown to provide ample crystal-clear sound distribution throughout the room, ensuring every attendee experienced high-quality audio.

State-of-the-Art Technology & Expertise:

Audio and Video Control: Our expert audio visual technicians used state-of-the-art audio console, video switcher, and lighting console to ensure flawless execution of the event. This technology enabled seamless transitions and precise control over the event’s audio-visual elements.

Truss and Cable Management:

Clean and Professional Setup: We rigged 80ft of truss where our projectors and sound system and lights were rigged with flown cable runs for a clean and undisrupted look, maintaining a polished and professional event space.

Backdrop and Lighting:

Backdrop Drapes: We installed 120ft wide x 30ft long grey drapes as a backdrop for the screen, creating a sleek and neutral background.

LED Up-Lights: 21 units of LED Par multi-colour up-lights were strategically placed to add dynamic lighting effects and set the mood, complementing the event’s theme.

LED Moving Lighting Rig: A large LED moving lighting rig was deployed to distribute lighting evenly across the main hall, adding ambiance and vibrancy to the space.

Leko Lights: Leko stage wash and spotlights were positioned to ensure optimal illumination of the stage, highlighting presenters and enhancing on-screen images.

  Kiwi Productions exceeded all expectations when it came to audio and visual support for Edmonton Startup Week, hosted annually by Edmonton Unlimited, including Launch Party, our flagship event. The expertise and flexibility of Bryce and his team was evident by the the setup in our space that allowed us to host over 30 events back-to-back throughout the week, the production for Launch Party at the Edmonton Convention Centre, and the content series featuring our Launch Party companies on the Alberta Impact podcast. We leaned on them heavily for audio support in our space for different events, plus the ability to record most of the sessions. The production value that included  large screens that displayed content, slide decks, and camera angles, along with audio options, lights, and stage accessories made the experience for everyone involved both on and off the stage seamless and memorable.   When you host a 3 day conference with over 1000 attendees, including 650 students, 225 volunteers, 150 people from partnering organizations, and executives from multi-billion $ companies, you need an AV provider that is professional, adaptable, and organized. We required entertainment for 2 major events with 700+ attendees: an opening ceremony and a formal gala for Canada's largest Undergraduate business case competition and conference. Bryce and his team provided our projectors, screens, camera work, live streaming capabilities, switching, and essentially ran our show on the technical side.

JDC West is a complex weekend: it involves 7 events, each with over 700 people with extremely tight turnarounds to move attendees from one event to another. This makes planning, setup, and organization prior to the event critical to success, and Bryce's decades of experience in the events space provided value immediately by knowing which camera angles to use in the room and how to reposition our extremely tight ballroom to provide adequate space for equipment. We had initially planned to use a more inexpensive option for our projectors and stream switching, but it became evident we needed help, and Bryce's team were a joy to work with for our planning committee, our event staff, management at The Westin, and our audio provider, Market Sound. From the first meeting with Kiwi Productions, it became clear that Bryce would go above and beyond to make our event work. Our whole team felt like Kiwi was a true partner, not just a vendor.

  Kiwi Productions has been a stand up company to deal with. We (track and field team) only have good things to say about them. They are prompt, organized and really detailed in all their work. We have been using them for ~8 years. They have provided great solutions on the video/web stream front and interface with our timers and technical crew really well to bring results and video into one place. The end product is really professional and has allowed us to do unique and different things in our sport.   Best ever production/AV company we have ever used. We’ve been using Encore for over a decade and I’m SO glad we took a leap of faith and tried out Bryce for our event. His team is so knowledgeable and friendly, they came up with so many ideas for us.
